Any bride-to-be who wants to be on the cutting edge of fashion when they take that walk down the aisle, need look no further than to see what the celebrities and trendsetters are wearing when they take their vows. These fashion icons are wearing some of the most glamorous and trendy bridal shoes available.
The biggest and most talked about celebrity wedding in the last decade was of course the royal nuptials of Will and Kate. Kate walked down the aisle at Westminster Abbey wearing beautiful shoes that were custom-made
by Sarah Burton and the design team at the late Alexander McQueen’s couture fashion house. The exquisite shoes were covered with hand embroidered lace over ivory duchesse satin, a perfect complement to her elegant, understated, v-neck gown with lace sleeves and lace applique throughout the bodice and skirt.
When American pop-singer Katy Perry wed British comedian Russell Brand in an elaborate ceremony at a Northern Indian resort recently, she wore two different pairs of custom shoes by Italian designer Cesare Casadei. For the ceremony she choose vintage beaded satin heels to complement her stunning dove-gray gown by Elie Saab Haute Couture, changing later to a pair of glittering flat sandals to dance the night away.
Country singer and former American Idol winner, Carrie Underwood chose shoes from the Stuart Weitzman collection
when she married Canadian hockey player Mike Fisher. She went for bling; choosing crystal pave, double platform, sling-back, peep-toe shoes in white satin, studded with pink Swarovski crystals, to wear with her ultra-feminine Monique Lhuillier Chantilly lace gown. She later donned a second pair of sparkly Weitzman platforms to match the strapless mini-dress she wore to the reception.
In other recent weddings, actress Reese Witherspoon picked elegant, silk satin Jimmy Choo sandals, for a rustic themed wedding at her ranch. With a four inch heel and a delicate ankle strap, the glamourous sandals paired well with her Monique Lhuillier dress. R & B singer Alica Keys opted for crystal encrusted flat sandals which she wore with a Grecian-inspired Vera Wang gown when Alicia married record producer Swiss Beatz at a resort on the French Rivera. Actress Christina Hendricks of “Mad Men’ fame wore a gorgeous pair of bright red flats in a ribbon design with her strapless white gown when she wed actor Geoffrey Arend in New York. The shoes coordinated perfectly with her signature flaming red tresses.
There are a number of designers who specialize in bridal shoes catering to celebrities and fashionistas alike. Here exclusive creations are fit for a princess. Other notables creating luxurious wedding shoes include Kate Spade, Badgley Mischka, Giuseppe Zanotti and Alisha Hill. One of the newest collections of bridal shoes comes from none other than Paris Hilton. And before you decide you can’t afford shoes from any of these high end designers, check them out on line. Many offer reasonably priced options.
